Machine Tool Diagnostics was founded in 2003 by Owner/President Rick Plachetka as a machine tool service organization for the metal-cutting industry. In 2004, the business became an independent service provider for MAG technologies, and its service area expanded from the Midwest to the rest of the country.


In 2008, Rick’s son Mike joined the company as vice president of sales. He helped his father develop the business into a full-service machine tool distributor.


Machine Tool Diagnostics raised its level of specialization even further in 2009 when it became an exclusive distributor of ROMI machine tools in Illinois. The following year, that ROMI exclusivity expanded into northern Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota.
